The event, organised by the Royal Society of Chemistry on behalf of, and in cooperation with, the Northern Ireland science and engineering community, aims to foster close relations with policymakers and key stakeholders.

This year’s theme for discussion was STEM education and skills, and Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell DBE FRS attended as the keynote speaker, reflecting on her early influences, inspirations and challenges throughout her distinguished career and education.

She shared a key insight of the need to build resilience among girls to encourage their greater participation in science.

The future skills agenda was discussed in depth, focusing on the need to ensure that education, at all levels, provided people with an excellent foundation of knowledge and skills, as well as an awareness of the many future employment opportunities in STEM.

The Institute of Physics Ireland exhibited at the event to showcase IOP educational resources and professional membership to delegates.
