The Institute of Physics stand had another busy night, attracting many enquiries and giving out a wide selection of IOP brochures and information at the recent Generation Innovation Night of Ambition event in Belfast.

Inspiring teenagers at NI Science Park Night of Ambition

This was the fifth year of the unique event organised by the Northern Ireland Science Park that brings teenagers, their teachers and parents from across Northern Ireland together with leaders and entrepreneurs in STEM.  Some of the organisations contributing on the night with the Institute of Physics were BBC NI, Deloitte Digital, Queen’s University, Ulster University, Sentinus, Young Enterprise NI and Equiniti.

More than 200 teenagers attended the event at St George’s Market in Belfast. Each had been specially nominated by their schools and colleges for excellence in areas like science and technology, engineering, maths and entrepreneurship. As well as gaining insight into the opportunities that exist in Northern Ireland for their future, the young people watched a video message from Adam Savage from Mythbusters encouraging them to innovate and start up their own companies.

At the IOP stand the teenagers, parent and teachers were told that by studying physics they would gain valuable skills and confidence to become entrepreneurs.
