The physics and maths student societies at Trinity College Dublin, recently joined forces to put together a careers fair.

Exhibitors included recruiters from areas as diverse as laser physics, communications, finance, trading and software development. Companies at the event included multinationals as such accountancy giant KPMG and global management consultancy firm, Accenture who recently announced the creation of 200 new posts in Dublin. Home-grown recruiters such as Eblana Photonics and the Tyndall Institute also featured while games developer Havok generated plenty of interest, particularly in relation to their product Havok Physics – collision and physical simulation technology. Staff from the TCD careers service were on hand to provide one-to-one advice while business was brisk at the Institute of Physics stand with plenty of requests for the IOP’s guides to writing CVs and how to choose a PhD. Many students expressed an interest in how to apply for internships.
