Physics Students

The Institute and Students

You can become a free electronic member of the Institute of Physics with no chargeif you are enrolled on an Institute of Physics accredited or recognised physics course at a university or institute of technology. Please click here for details. You will receive Physics World electronically each month and you may also become a free electronic member of any of the subject and professional groups. You may also join the Institute as a student and receive paper copies of Physics World for the special annual rate of £15 (2009). If you wish to arrange paper copy student membership please email membership@iop.org

The student wing of the Institute of Physics is called Nexus and provides a communication channel for the student community throughout the UK and Ireland.

In Ireland the Earnshaw Medal is awarded to the undergraduate presenting the best final year project and the Rosse Medal is awarded to the best poster presented by a postgraduate at the Spring Weekend Meeting.
